The Campus Academic Strategies and Technology (4CAST) event draws instructors and support staff together each January to examine how learning technologies can be leveraged to engage students, to make connections between instructors and support staff, and to identify educational potential in new technology.
4CAST '14: "Books are Dead. Long Live Books", will be held on Thursday, January 16th. Join us for a day of engaging conversation and new ideas about how the intersection of print and digital is changing our lives.
"Everywhere you look it seems print books are being swallowed whole by the digital revolution – eBooks, eTexts, and digital curricular materials are being delivered online and by gadgets galore.
Yet the print book – that physical manifestation of our knowledge, hopes and dreams – survives – and, in some cases, thrives. In fact, certain studies point to students preferring print to digital for serious academic work.
The book is dead. Long live the book."
Mark the date on your calendars now and watch for event and registration information to be posted soon.
The event is hosted and organized by the Center for Teaching, The University of Iowa Libraries, and Information Technology Services.
